ABOUT CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

CSTAFEMFPRAC17.jpg

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle yet powerful therapy that involves tuning into the movements of the bones in the skull, spine, and pelvis to alleviate pain,  it aims to improve overall health. Practitioners believe that stress, trauma, and other factors can cause restrictions in the movement of these bones, which can lead to a variety of physical and emotional problems. By using gentle touch techniques, Craniosacral therapists aim to release these restrictions and allow the body to heal itself.

Craniosacral therapy was born out of cranial osteopathy, developed by osteopath William Sutherland in the early 1900’s. He discovered that the cranial bones retain some motion throughout our lifetime and that the movement of the bones in the skull were linked to the rythmic motion of the sacrum. He called this the core link. He also discovered that restrictions in the bones of the skull could influence the motion of the sacrum and vice versa.

The craniosacral system is the term used to describe the membrane structure containing cerebrospinal fluid, that runs from the sacrum up the spinal cord and around the brain. Cerebrospinal fluid is what protects and supports the brain, bathing it and the central nervous system with nutrients.

CranioSacral Therapy  works through the central nervous system and can help in improving function in the whole body.

ABOUT ME

I am a Craniosacral therapist with a background in making TV programmes.

I first discovered Craniosacral Therapy out of curiosity in the late nineties, and was in awe of its ability to put me in touch with my self and how my body went into gentle spontaneous movement, bringing about awareness and healing.

I’ve been receiving treatments ever since, and in 2005 I started training with the Upledger Institute in Scotland and Iceland. I graduated from the College of Craniosacral Therapy in London in 2015.

Craniosacral Therapy treatments have helped me deal with the physical and mental stresses of my work and life but have also led to a greater self-awareness and understanding of how our histories and experiences are held in our bodies.

I am a Reiki practitioner and qualified Holistic Massage therapist, trained in Osteodouce and have done several postgraduate Craniosacral Therapy courses with embryology as a foundation. Osteodouce is an energetic form of osteopathy and treatments are given remotely.

I live in North Wales, where I enjoy swimming in the sea and walking in the mountains of Eryri  (Snowdonia).

I am a registered member of the Craniosacral Therapy Association and am bound by the professional code of practice.

TESTIMONIALS

I had a problem with my neck and after several sessions that were spread out over time, one day there was a natural click and realignment. The healing experience was much more than for my neck though. It is a very gentle, deep and profound process. Rebecca is a wise lady and will help your body (that's you) to feel safe and supported as it is invited to heal.
